Hello, I’m Naoki “Mick” Mikuni, Manager of Customer Reliability Engineering at Soracom. As a company built by engineers, we are keen on hiring engineers and technical writers who are eager to make a global impact through IoT. In this blog post, we’ll look at some of the ways in which being a technical writer at Soracom can contribute to the global IoT scene.

Soracom’s Global Presence

Though originally developed in Japan, the Soracom IoT platform was designed for global deployment from the outset. Today, we provide connectivity for deployments across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas, and our portfolio of global success stories only continues to grow. Companies like Sollatek and BeeHero not only demonstrate the versatility of our services across different industries, they also speak to the global impact of our work. (For other case studies, please see here)

Global Team Collaboration

The global reach of Soracom’s goods and services is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our distributed team of talented individuals. Take the Soracom LTE-M Button, for instance – a simple yet powerful device capable of sending click events to the cloud via LTE-M communication. This button is available in countries where we support LTE-M connection because of the collaborative efforts of Product Managers Felix and Dora, who were responsible for its design and hardware manufacturing, and Software Engineers Akira and Kotaro, who developed the Binary Parser functionality for seamless cloud integration. Even the quality assurance for the product involved an international team, with Markus (Global Cellular QA Engineer) from Germany, Brenna (Solutions Architect) from the USA, and Rein (Customer Reliability Engineer) from Ireland all handling different aspects of the process.

We are connected online/offline with members from all over the world!

Your contributions will directly impact Soracom’s ability to serve and expand our global customer base, making this role essential to the continued growth of the organization.

Your primary responsibilities will be contributing to this document, helping other engineers to create documentation in a clear and professional tone, and organizing our ever-expanding technical glossary so that it is delivered in a way that is easy for customers to understand.
